2. STRESS - What is it REALLY?
People are familiar with the concept that too much Stress leads to problems, both physical and emotional. In fact, the CDC stated a few years back that “75-90% of Doctor Visits are due to Stress.”
But trying to get a “science based” definition of “stress” is not so easy. Many of us KNOW when we feel “stressed,” and we can often find things to blame it on (not enough sleep or money, pressures from the boss, a relationship going sour, etc.). Many of us do NOT know how to recognize stress -- because it is “just how life is.” So we cope with our lives the best we can.
Some years ago I began giving talks on “Antidotes to Stress.” By drawing on my experiences with personal transformation, coaching, meditation, alternative health practices, principles of physics, sales, implementation strategies, strategic team management and more, I was able to organize material that people remarked on, saying “I finally know what I can do!”
Rochele’s Definition of Stress
“Not enough good-feeling, free flowing Life Force Energy,” or in simple terms, “Crunched Life Force Energy.”
Just like when you put your thumb over the end of a water hose to create enough pressure to knock down a hornet’s nest on your window frame at home, the extra stress on the flow of water can really help get the job done. And we try to do this all the time with our own flow of water – energy -- in emergency conditions. But where is our energy coming from? We all know what it feels like when the water flow is cut off at the spigot. Where is our own spigot, where does the water come from, and what shuts it down, or turns it back on?
We usually envy the energy we see with a person who has just fallen in love. Or the person who is roaring angry about the latest tax bill (the potholes in his street are getting bigger) – or when the inventory of Personal Protective Equipment has run out. Some people yell. Yelling makes them feel better for a while – but it stresses others! Some people simply feel defeated – crunched – and therefore really stressed.
So, STRESS -- the “Crunch of Life Force Energy” -- is related to these ebbs of flowing energy.
Most people have found ways to bring back that flow to “normal.” Some ways are good, others more stressful in the long run.
Who has used chocolate to “uncrunch” your energy?
Or called a friend who will listen to your woes without interrupting?
Or binge-watched a program that distracts you from your “stressful life?”
Or taken up exercise, meditation, forgiveness routines, serving others, etc. – ways that are supposed to be good for you?
In my world I see each of us as a Unique Expression of Life Force Energy. What triggers me into having “crunched energy” may not stress you. For everyone, however, long term recurring patterns of stress (both physical and emotional) will produce problems.
A New Understanding of Triggers for Stress
I have discovered a way to uncover the roots of your unique triggers for stress that crunch your flow of energy. I explain these triggers in a way that is different from the traditional. I can support a person either to transform (remove) those triggers – or cope with them in more mindful, health-producing ways.
The information I’ll share in this blog and the opportunity for individual consultations is what I believe can support you in your journey to get well and feel better.
You will know what to trust when you feel the “Ring of Truth” in your own body. This is not to say that it will be easy—no real, lasting change ever is—but if you are willing to do the work, you will be rewarded!
